SARAH BLACKER AND THE LIGHT celebrate the 10-Year Anniversary of "In Waves" (SARAH BLACKER's 2015 full-length album) live at CLUB PASSIM in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA.

2024 was a fruitful year for SARAH BLACKER, Salem, MA. resident, who was not only named "Performer of the Year" by the New England Music Awards, but also released 2 EPs.

"Horizon Line," a “mostly live” studio EP recorded at 37’ Productions, was called “tender, defiant and genius” by the Boston Herald, and "Live at Rockport Sundays" recorded live (by invite after legendary folksinger, Tom Rush heard she and her band live in concert) at the home of Rush for his renowned "Rockport Sundays" series.

2025 began for BLACKER and her band with a packed headlining show at the "Me & Thee Coffeehouse" and release of live concert videos of new songs and fan favorites.

This upcoming date at CLUB PASSIM, BLACKER's favorite local room to play will hold space for the celebration of the 10-year anniversary of her album, "In Waves."

"In Waves" led the singer/songwriter on a national tour, dates at Lowell Summer Music Series, and other national tour dates in support of Carbon Leaf, Mishka and Zach Deputy and was her most edgy, rock n’roll album to date.

Her current band will pay homage to the song’s depthful emotions and lush harmonic arrangements.

SARAH BLACKER is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board-Certified Music Therapist who isn't shy to explore the soulful depths of human existence within her lyrics, regularly offering a cynical sense of irony juxtaposed over hope in her songs and when telling stories and jokes, live.

While she is regularly compared to Joni Mitchell with her stop-you-dead-in-your-tracks vocals and unique harmonic twists, SARAH BLACKER arrives with a side of Classic rock n’roll and jazz with impressive guitar, ukulele and vocal prowess.

Her band features:

  • Spiritual song leader and husband Aaron Z. Katz ("Percy Hill," "the Dejas") on drums/percussion and harmonies
  • Phil Selesnick on keys/bass and vocals;
  • Singer/songwriter and Expressive Arts Therapist Mark Lipman on auxiliary instruments and vocals;
  • Music Therapist Danielle Lovasco on vocals, and:
  • Berklee professor Carl Eisman on lead guitar

The above collaboration allows for familiar songs to find their way from compelling soulful pop shape into jazzy improvisation, and transport the listener from inner peace to gut-punch grooves.

Named previously as "Female Performer of the Year" by the New England Music Awards, a Boston-Music Award nominee and CBS Boston "Artist to Watch" SARAH BLACKER has also supported Jefferson Starship, America, Paula Cole, Richard Thompson and Sara Bareilles to name just a few.

In her spare time, you can find SARAH BLACKER as dog momager to her insta-famous dog, @brucefromsalem.
